WHAT WILL A SPARTAN DO DURING A TRAINING BLOCK?

During a training block (term) a Spartan Warrior will learn about the importance of teamwork as well as developing their own confidence. Coaches will spend a lot of time developing and improving a Spartan's fundamentals such as ball handling with one or two basketballs at a time. Coaches will help develop dribbling technique, lay-ups, shooting technique, defending on and off the ball, and reading the defence. This will then be encouraged and promoted in games during the last 25-30 minutes of each session.

We believe putting these new learnt skills into effect in game situations are crucial. Five minutes to play games at the end of a training session is not enough for any player. At Spartans Basketball Academy we endeavour to have 25 minutes of game time every week where everyone touches the ball and everyone contributes. All of our balls are fully pumped and there is always enough balls for everyone.

All Spartans work together as a team, and no one gets left behind! We will give individuals and teams advice throughout drills and games to help them become an ultimate warrior on the sports battlefield. All Spartans will also develop their fitness when training at our academy. Many of the skills learnt are transferable and will help your Spartan improve in other sports such as football, rugby and netball. All of our balls are fully pumped and there is always enough balls for everyone! We can be found at Tiffin Sports Centre, The Holy Cross School and The German School in Surrey.

CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR CHILD HAS BECOME A SPARTAN WARRIOR!
